Monarch® 6017™ Printer FAQs
  1. Why do I experience missing print on some receipts?

    If you are using Symbol's API (Application Programming Interface) with the 6017 printer, you may occasionally notice missing print. To correct this situation, manually change your flow control (handshaking) protocol. For more information, refer to Symbol's API documentation.

  2. Will the 6017 printer work with satellite forms?

    Yes, for more information, check out our satellite forms source code (SF6017.zip).

  3. Why does the printing alternate between dark and light?

    • You may not be using Monarch® supplies. The following supplies are available from Monarch:

      900148 - 10 roll case
      900149 - 50 roll case

    • Battery may be low. Recharge the printer.

    • You may need to adjust your print contrast. Your application may or may not support adjusting the print contrast. Monarch recommends designing your applications so the user can adjust the print contrast. See a test application (PEL Test Application.prc) and source code (PEL Test Application Source.zip).

Unzipping the Source Files
Use pkunzip or WinZip® (http://www.winzip.com) to unzip the demos files. Make sure that if using pkunzip you use the "–d" option to recreate the directory structure. Using WinZip, make sure that the "Use folder names" option is checked after you click the Extract button. These two methods create the file structures needed to open the source code in Metrowerks® CodeWarrior®.

  1. Download 6017 Print demo.exe to your PC's hard drive.
  2. Run the .exe file.
  3. Run the "Monarch 6017 Demo" from your start menu.
  4. Load the demo application into your Palm Computing® Platform Device by using the Hotsync® application.
Note: Check with the documentation provided with your handheld computing device on using Hotsync and installing the desktop software.

The source code demonstrates the use of the communication port, magnetic stripe card reader, how to print receipts, and use the printer's scanning buttons.
