- Are there no-print zones on the Platinum label?
Yes, the no-print zone is the area at the beginning or end of a label, which cannot be imaged due to motor ramping or stock motion limitations. No-print zones also exist along the edge of the supply to account for supply drift.
| a | Leading Edge NPZ
There is no software imposed acceleration no-print zone. However, a 6 mm (0.235") no-print zone is recommended at the beginning of the label to ensure optimal print quality. |
| b | Trailing Edge of Label NPZ
The recommended deceleration No-Print zone is 3 mm (0.115"). Imposing on the deceleration No-Print Zone may lead to poor print quality or truncated formats. |
| c | Right side No-Print Zone
The recommended inside no-print zone is 1.5 mm (0.060”) to account for supply drift on supply less than 1.89" wide. For 2.0” wide supply, c = 0.055"
(2.0 -1.89)/2 |
| d | Left side No-Print Zone
The recommended outside no-print zone is 1.5 mm (0.060") to account for supply drift on supply less than 1.89” wide. For 2.0” wide supply, d = 0.055”
(2.0 -1.89)/2 |
| i | Image Width
The maximum value for i = 48 mm (1.89"). |
| p | Supply Width
For peel mode, w not to be less than 0.50" and not to exceed 2.05".
For non-peel mode, w not to be less than 0.50" and not to exceed 2.0". |
Supply Tolerance | Supply Tolerance Feed direction supply tolerance is ±0.76 mm (±0.030”), Black Mark Feed direction tolerance is 0.12 mm (±0.005”). |
9450 Printer FAQs
- My printer will not power on.
Check to insure you have a fully charged power source.
If you have a fully charged power source the unit has lost its application and will need to be re-flashed or sent in for service.
- My printer will not communicate.
Communication values are mismatched between the host and the printer serial ports. All parameters on the Host and Printer's Serial ports must match exactly.
Refer to the User's Manual for more information.
9460 and 9460PXIP Printers FAQs
- My printer keeps feeding blank labels and displaying 756 and/or 704 status code. What should I do?
- Turn off the printer. Verify the supplies are loaded correctly.
- Verify you have the correct supplies loaded in the printer.
This printer has a center justified die cut and black mark sensor. If the labels you are using have a black mark on the edge and not in the middle, they will not work.
- Verify the proper supply type is selected in your setup menu.
Refer to the Operator's Handbook for additional information.
- What is the password to access my printer?
The password required to enter the menu system is as follows (1-1-1-3-1), the left button = 1, the middle button = 2, and the right button = 3.

- My printer is printing light. What should I do?
- Make sure the lever latches are closed completely and labels are loaded correctly.
- Check your printhead and/or platen roller to make sure they are free from obstruction and debris.
- Clean the printhead and/or platen roller using a cleaning pen or a cotton swab and isopropyl alcohol.
- My printer is not communicating. What should I do?
- The communication values may be mismatched between the host and the printer's serial port. Make sure all parameters on match exactly.
- Make sure you are sending valid data to the printer.
- For MPCL versions of the printer (printer version is shown on the display when turned on), invalid or non printer language is being sent. Also, check for a faulty or disconnected communications cable and/or check for host related issues that we cannot determine.
- Status Code 400:
This is typical with an AS/400 system. The following parameters are suggested when setting up your outqueue:
Host print transform- *yes
Mfr type and model- *wscst
Wrksta custom object- qwpdefault
Other configurations can be suggested, contact technical support: 1-800-543-6650.
- Status Code 411:
Framing Error. The baud rate values may be mismatched between the host and the printer serial port. Make sure all parameters on the Host and the Printer's Serial port match exactly.
- Status Code 418:
The printer has referenced a request that does not exist, referred to as "Noise on the Line". Electrical interference (Radios, Access Points, Heaters, Air Conditioners, etc.) could be picked up by the cable and random data bits may be received by the printer. Move the printer away from the interference.
